A meeting dedicated to enhancing the efficiency of coaches working in the field of cycling has been held at the Azerbaijan Cycling Federation (AzVIF).
Opening the meeting with an introductory speech, First Vice-President of AzVIF Sahib Alakbarov emphasized that coaches bear a great responsibility in the development of cycling in our country. He noted the importance of a systematic and professional approach to the athletes' training process, building training programs based on modern requirements, and properly identifying, assessing, and developing each athlete's individual potential.
The necessity of strengthening selection work among children and adolescents, increasing experience sharing among coaches, and regularly analyzing the development dynamics of athletes was brought to attention.
Sahib Alakbarov stated that, considering serious shortcomings in the training of professional cyclists due to the failure of the Republican Olympic Reserve Specialized Children and Youth Cycling School of the Ministry of Youth and Sports to properly fulfill the tasks and requirements set before it, the leadership of the school was changed and serious reforms were launched at the institution. It was noted that to attract talented youth in the regions to cycling, cycling units were established in 18 cities and districts, professional and knowledgeable coaches were recruited for this work, and these units were provided with suitable premises and the necessary equipment.
The Head Coach of the Federation, Vladimir Bushanskiy, provided information on the work to be done to organize activities with coaches at the level of modern requirements and to raise the professional level of coaches.
Head Coach of the Cycling School Sabir Hasanov, coaches Elchin Asadov and Elchin Gasimov, representative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Ali Mammadov, and others delivered speeches. They shared their views and proposals, stating that all necessary conditions have been created for the development of cycling in our country, and that significant progress in training professional cyclists can be achieved within the next few years by strengthening work with children and youth interested in the sport — provided that coaches continuously work on themselves and approach their responsibilities more accountability.
