Stage 3 of the "Baku–Khankendi" Azerbaijan Cycling Race, classified as category 2.1 by the International Cycling Union (UCI), has concluded. On this race day, cyclists covered a distance of 162.9 km from Gabala to the city of Mingachevir. The stage was particularly notable for its sprint classification and was marked by a change in the lead among the fastest cyclists.
The winner of the third race day was Gleb Syritsa, a cyclist from Kazakhstan’s “XDS Astana” World Tour team, who crossed the finish line first with a time of 3 hours, 26 minutes, and 43 seconds. It should be noted that the winner of Stage 2 was another “XDS Astana” cyclist, Yevgeniy Fedorov.
Timothy Dupont, a member of Belgium’s “Tarteletto-Isorex” continental team, finished 2nd at this stage, while David Cristian Pita, representing Thailand’s “Roojai Insurance Winspace” continental club, secured 3rd place.
After three stages, “XDS Astana” rider Yevgeniy Fedorov remains the leader of the general classification and retains the blue jersey presented by “Silkway West Airlines.” The green jersey for the best sprinter, presented by “Sea Breeze,” was claimed by another member of the team, Stage 3 winner Gleb Syritsa.
Lennert Teugels, a cyclist from Belgium’s “Tarteletto-Isorex” continental club, retained the red mountain leader’s jersey presented by Azerbaijan Airlines, while Iker Gómez of Spain’s “Equipo Kern Pharma” pro-continental team kept the white jersey for the best young rider, presented by “Azvirt.”
The awards were presented to the distinguished cyclists by Ilham Ismayilov, Head of the Mingachevir City Executive Power, Sahib Alakbarov, the First Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Cycling Federation and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the "Baku–Khankendi" Azerbaijan Cycling Race and Fikrat Huseynov, the Executive Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Cycling Federation.
In tomorrow’s Stage 4, cyclists will cover a distance of 152.8 km along the route Ganja – Goygol – Goranboy – Aghdara (Sugovushan and Talish villages) – Naftalan.
