The dates for the 2027 Baku-Khankendi Azerbaijan Cycling Race have been determined. Included in the International Cycling Union's (UCI) 2.1 category, the race will be held from May 9–13 and has been officially included in the international federation's calendar plan.
One of the key factors enhancing the sporting significance of the race is that it coincides with the preparation stage for the Los Angeles 2028 Summer Olympic Games. Due to the significant role ranking points play in the Olympic qualification process, the Baku-Khankendi Azerbaijan Cycling Race is expected to feature high-level teams and athletes, as well as more intense and competitive struggles across stages. Teams will compete both to achieve strong results in individual stages and general classifications, and to boost their rankings on the road to the Olympic Games.
In addition to serving as an important international platform to showcase our country's sporting, tourism, and cultural potential, the Baku-Khankendi Azerbaijan Cycling Race holds special significance in terms of highlighting to the global community the large-scale construction and restoration work carried out in our country in recent years, particularly in the liberated territories.
