Lennert Teugels, the best climber of the Baku-Khankendi Azerbaijan Cycling Race and cyclist for Belgium's continental club "Tarteletto-Isorex", said these words in an interview with bakukhankendi.az.
He revealed the secret to winning the mountain leader jersey: "To earn the jersey, you have to work consistently. It's not a one-day job. You need to stay focused for days. I think that's one of my biggest strengths. I don't just have one super day; I have several good days."
"Today, I was trying to collect more points, and I think I got lucky. The climbs were a bit difficult for me," he noted.
The cyclist also emphasized that the biggest challenge he faced was the hot weather conditions observed throughout the race: "I'm from Belgium, I prefer cooler weather. It's currently 10 degrees Celsius there. Compared to here, it's a huge difference."
"I can say that I saw the best organization I've ever encountered in the races I've participated in so far. This race unequivocally deserves a higher category," Teugels added.
