“I hope this victory will become the starting point for future wins," said Marco Manenti, a rider of the Italian UCI ProTeam “Bardiani CSF Faizanè” and winner of Stage 4 of the "Baku–Khankendi" Azerbaijan Cycling Race, during the press conference held in Naftalan.
“This victory is very important for my team. I hope it will become the starting point for future wins, because earning points in cycling is extremely important in order to receive invitations to major races. We are a very strong team, and I believe we can achieve even better results. This stage was difficult, especially because of the hot weather. However, the road was plain,” Manenti emphasized.
He noted that the decisive moment in securing the victory was taking the right position before the final turn near the finish line:
“In the final corner close to the finish line, I positioned myself behind a rider from Kazakhstan’s ‘XDS Astana’ team, and that proved to be the decisive moment in my victory.”
