The official opening ceremony of the Republican School Sports Olympiad was held at the Baku Crystal Hall on June 20. The ceremony began with teams representing various cities and districts of the country taking the stage while carrying signs with the names of their respective regions. This was followed by the playing of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The artistic portion of the event featured a concert program, after which the anthem of the Republican School Sports Olympiad was performed.
The schoolchildren participating in the Olympiad are trainees of the children and youth sports schools operating across the country. From June 21 to 26, the participants will compete in weightlifting, athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, judo, Greco-Roman wrestling, freestyle wrestling, rhythmic gymnastics, cycling, table tennis, and taekwondo.
The Republican School Sports Olympiad is being held in the country for the first time. It is jointly organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Science and Education, with support from the Baku City Circuit Operations Company and the respective sports federations
