A cycling competition for schoolchildren in Baku’s Nasimi district was jointly organized by the Baku City Youth and Sports Department, the Azerbaijan Cycling Federation, and the Republican Specialized Children and Youth Cycling School of Olympic Reserve.

The competition was organized to mark Baku’s designation as the “World’s Sports Capital” for 2026. More than 50 boys and girls representing various general education schools in the district competed in a group race.

In the boys’ competition, Jahid Alizadeh, representing Secondary School No. 211, took first place. Kaan Cenikoglu, a student at Azerbaijan International Maarif School, finished second, while Huseyn Abdullayev, representing Secondary School No. 111, came third.

In the girls’ competition, Nuray Garibova, a student at Secondary School No. 54, claimed victory. Fatima Taghizadeh, representing Azerbaijan International Maarif School, finished second, while Maryam Khalilzadeh, a student at Secondary School No. 111, took third place.

The top-performing students were awarded medals and diplomas. It should be noted that the tournament is the first stage of a series of cycling competitions to be held among schoolchildren in Baku. The main objective of the project is to increase interest in cycling among schoolchildren, promote a healthy lifestyle, and identify promising young athletes.
